About

We are in the voice-keeping business.

Photographs show you the night. Voices put you back in it. Ten years from now the flowers are a color you half remember, but your best friend saying your name into a telephone at midnight sounds exactly like your best friend. That is the whole idea, and we have built a company on it.

The Toast Line rents vintage telephones that record messages from your guests. Not a QR code, not an app, not a tablet in a frame: a heavy handset with a coiled cord, the kind that makes people slow down before they speak. Guests hear your greeting, wait for the tone, and say the things they were never going to write in a book.

We run it as a service, because New York events do not have room for a shipping box. We deliver in the five boroughs, style the table or build the booth, test the line before the room fills, and collect everything when the night ends. Your venue gets its paperwork and a load-in time; you get to be a guest at your own party.

Then the slow part: a person, not a script, listens through the night and edits every message by hand. Levels fixed, silences trimmed, nothing cut for length. The full set arrives within three days, in the order the night happened. The best of it can be pressed to vinyl, because some things deserve a needle drop.

Weddings are most of what we do, and the site reads that way. But the phone has a standing invitation to retirements, galas, fiftieth birthdays, and memorials, and the line works the same wherever people have something to say to someone they love.
